Approximately every eight weeks School of Rock takes their show on the road and plays what they have been learning on stage in front of a fairly large audience at a public venue. A real confidence builder and so much fun for the the kids family and friends to see in that type of setting.

The students here are the most serious and mature ones I've encountered, yet they are normal kids- they play soccer, take dance, and act like typical kids. I think the program is what brings out their best - it's very clear what's expected from the students, it's fun for them, and it's a very social studio. We felt like part of the group right away. The director does a wonderful job of selecting the best competitions, performance opportunities, and fun field trips. The other faculty are also tops. In three days, she's playing at the State Finals, having qualified in February in piano solo and piano duo. Ms. Mary has devoted so many weekends to rehearsing with the students, and it's been extraordinary watching them grow in professional-level ensembles. Even the little ones sound like pros. It's been a lot of work and a lot of fun. Finally, a music school that takes music seriously! Definitely for students who want to be really good. WPS is matchless.

Janice Colburn: My son has taken piano for 5 years at the local pedagogy school. We did everything we were told to do: private lessons and regular group piano lessons. We did theory. We were told he'd participate in the Royal Conservatory exams, but except for the very earliest exam, he was always left out. I know he loves piano and I know he practices regularly, but when I tried to conference, I was told he wasn't making the progress required for the exams. I asked to sit in on lessons so I could be part of the solution, but apparently no one is allowed to attend but the child. I ended up feeling completely excluded and powerless to fix the problem.Meanwhile, my son was rapidly losing interest. His friends were doing RCM, competitions, and all manner of activities. I finally called the parents of two of these friends and learned they studied with Wendelken Piano. They were with associated teachers and not the director, but they were thriving and achieving.Seven months ago, I took my son in for an interview and immediately I knew everything was going to be different. The director, Ms. Mary was warm, approachable, and very candid. I was encouraged to stay for my son's lessons! She said the group lessons were not in anyone's best interests and they don't offer group piano, ever.My son was given a chance to say what kind of music inspires him, for the first time, ever.We really wanted to study with the director because I could see he was really taken with her. She didn't have anything open in her schedule, but I arranged to take him out of school early once a week and she squeezed him in. In 7 months, he's advanced a year in the Royal Conservatory Method. He's made it to the State Finals and will compete next week with the top students in the state. He's playing an RCM grade 4 exam in June (we were told he didn't "have it" by his old school, but he's playing better and moving faster than anyone could have hoped.I don't know exactly what the magic is, but we're experiencing something amazing. If your child is getting lost in the shuffle, or if they are really good and moving far too slow, this is where you go to see results- real, tangible, positive, inspiring results. Thank you, WPS!

Daniel Triol: I'm an adult student and have been with Wendelken Piano Studio for almost a year. There are quite a lot of adult students studying here, of all levels, so I don't feel like the awkward grown-up in a music school full of children. The adults have their own performance classes, so although we can attend and perform with the school-age children, we have our own class where we can play for, and hear, other adult students exclusively. It's a great support system. I would encourage any adult, whatever your personal level, to choose Wendelken Piano Studio. As a point of reference, I am considered late-intermediate level, but the range of levels for the adult students is everywhere from beginner to advanced.
